Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Chicago

The Motivation and Cognition Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of Chicago (PI: Yuan Chang Leong) invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join the lab.

Research in the lab examines how goals, desires and beliefs affect how people interact with the physical and social world. We use a wide range of methods, including behavioral experiments, fMRI, naturalistic task paradigms, computational modeling, eye-tracking, physiological measures and natural language processing. Our work is situated at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, social psychology, and affective science. More information about the lab can be found here: https://mcnlab.uchicago.edu/research/

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to an ongoing project that combines natural language processing tools and fMRI to study how affect and motivation influence the interpretation of narratives. The postdoctoral researcher will also have the freedom to spearhead their own studies. New approaches and ideas are encouraged, as are independent projects that complement the lab’s existing research threads.

The lab has access to a 3T research-dedicated MRI scanner, fNIRS, EEG, and eye-tracking facilities.

Candidates with substantial prior experience with advanced fMRI analyses are especially desirable. Strong technical skills, including competence in several programming environments, and an interest in interdisciplinary research are also highly valued.

The applicant must have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field by the time the position begins. The initial appointment is for a year, with the possibility of renewal. The targeted start date is July 1st 2022, but is flexible.

To apply, please send the following documents to ycleong@uchicago.edu:

1)  A cover letter describing qualifications, research interests, and career goals

4) 1-2 representative publications

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. For best consideration, please submit your application before March 15th 2022.
